In short

Bright Sprouts Academy prepares students in London and online for UK university admissions tests: the TMUA (Maths, Economics and Computer Science at universities including Cambridge, Imperial, LSE and Warwick), the Oxford MAT and PAT, the ESAT (Cambridge and Imperial science and engineering courses), STEP (Cambridge Maths and some other universities) and the UCAT (most UK medical and dental schools). Tuition focuses on the non-standard problem-solving these tests reward, using past papers and timed practice.

Our approach

How we teach

Diagnose first

Every student starts with a diagnostic assessment, so lessons focus on the specific gaps that are costing marks.

Board-specific practice

We teach to your exam board's specification and use its own past papers, mark schemes and examiner reports.

Exam technique

Timed practice, mark-scheme wording and error logs turn understanding into marks under exam conditions.

FAQ

UK Admissions Tests (TMUA, MAT, ESAT, UCAT) tuition: FAQs

Which admissions test do I need?

It depends on the course and university. For example, Cambridge Maths uses STEP, Cambridge and Imperial science and engineering courses use the ESAT, Oxford Maths uses the MAT, and most medical schools use the UCAT. Requirements change, so always confirm on the university's admissions page.

When should I start preparing?

Ideally in Year 12, a few months before the test. The skills these tests reward build up over time and can't be crammed. The UCAT is sat in the summer before Year 13; most other tests are sat in the autumn of Year 13.

How is this different from A-Level tuition?

Admissions tests use A-Level content but ask unfamiliar, multi-step questions under tight time limits. Lessons focus on problem-solving strategies, past-paper practice and reviewing how expert solutions work.

Are lessons online or in person?

Both. We teach in person in London and online for students anywhere in the UK. Online lessons use a shared digital whiteboard, so working is visible step by step, and every session can be recorded for revision.

Do you offer one-to-one tuition or small groups?

Both. One-to-one tuition is fully tailored to the student. Small groups are capped at six students so that every student still gets individual feedback.

How do we get started?

Book a free consultation. We discuss the student's school, exam board, current grades and target, then recommend a plan. Most students begin with a diagnostic assessment so that lessons focus on real gaps rather than topics they already know.
